Billed as the “first race car built for competition in the U.S. from the next-generation 2012 Yaris SE”, the Yaris Club Racer will compete in the SCCA B-spec class race category in 2012. X-Game champion Jamie Bestwick will pilot the Yaris Club Racer during the 2012 racing season.

Although based on the road-going three-door Yaris, the Club Racer features a number of key modifications for competition. Those mods – which were carried out by SportsCar Magazine – include an eight-point roll cage, racing seat, fire system, racing steering wheel and RLC Racing Track Commander data acquisition system.
Power is provided by Toyota’s 1.5L four-cylinder. Although Toyota didn’t announce any performance figures, the four-cylinder should be producing a few extra ponies thanks to a cat-back exhaust system, Church Automotive Testing custom tune and a K&N air filter.
Look for the 2012 Yaris B-Spec Club Racer to hit the track next year.
